Miyagan Connections Program

Miyagan, meaning family or kinship within the Wiradjuri culture, represents the network of relationships built on love, trust and connection. In storytelling, it highlights how an individual’s personal journey is not undertaken alone but is shaped and supported by their community.

For the Wiradjuri people, connected to the rivers Wambool, Kalari, and the Murrumbidgee, Miyagan reflects a deep sense of belonging and shared identity, emphasizing that personal growth occurs within the support of community and country.

We have chosen the name Miyagan Connections as we move forward with our program. Reflecting the meaning of Miyagan – Family, Kinship, and connection. Our program is centered on supporting each mother-to-be to determine what works best for herself, her family, and her baby.

We follow her lead, recognizing her strengths and choices, and emphasizing a supportive environment that nurtures both personal and family growth. Through this approach, Miyagan Connections aims to build stronger, trusting relationships grounded in care, respect, and community.
